The course is open to musicians and teachers. It has proofed in time to be a useful teaching tool for teachers. For those who have founded courses of Suzuki Instruments and for those interested in personally acquiring skills in teachings music at pre-school age. The course, if not taking place in Italy, involves a total of six training weekends within a year or a year and half. At the end of the course, each teacher will need to undertake an examination. To qualify for examination participants of the Musical Garden – Children Music Laboratory training course, should attend all scheduled training weekends . Course requirements • The knowledge of texts concerning the philosophy and the Suzuki Method and of the required reading materials. (Playing like speaking) • The preparation of two lessons outlines for the first and the second period of the academic year. • To present a lesson of about 20 minutes including different exercises for instrumental preparation . • A round table viva voce, where all trainees exchange experiences and discuss projects carried out during the course and show their knowledge of Musical Garden topics. • At the exam should be presented an essay on a topic chosen by the candidate (agreed by the teacher trainer). • The candidates will also show performance skills with the CML repertory, by singing, playing piano, transposing or adapting texts, time signatures, etc.
In successive years, the trainees will be invited to keep frequent contact with the teacher trainer to keep up to date with recent evolutions of the materials
For courses not taking place in Italy, it would be ideal to start a small pilot group of children, to test the work and to develop the skills, while maintaining contact with the teacher trainers. The course with the children could start after the first three weekends with an active collaboration between the registered teachers. It would also be ideal, during one of the first weekends, to have a meeting for translating the texts of the CML songs in the language of this country and to find other useful songs to develop rhythm, singing capabilities and musical theory. The Training Course of Musical Garden in Italy is located near the Suzuki Centers of Torino, Rome and Casagiove (CE). In other countries the Course can be carried out near Suzuki centres, schools and associations that consider organizing a Course of Musical Garden – Children’s Music Laboratory. The Course can be organized exclusively by teacher trainers authorized by the founders of the Musical Garden: prof. Elena Enrico and prof. Marco Messina.
